Rich Streitmatter-Tran

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

R. Streitmatter-Tran (b. 1972, Bien Hoa, Vietnam) is an artist based in Ho Chi Minh City. He received his degree in the Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston.

His work, solo and collaborative, has been exhibited in several cities in the United States, Europe and Asia including the 52nd Venice Biennale; Asia Triennial Manchester 2011, 4th Guanghou Triennale, Shenzhen & Hong Kong Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture, the Singapore Biennale 2006 and 2008; the 2004 Gwangju Biennale; 2005 Pocheon Asian Art Festival/Korea; ZKM/Karlsruhe, the Singapore Art Museum, 10 Chancery Lane Gallery/Hong Kong, MAM Projects at the Vietnam Womens Museum and Manzi.

Writing, education, criticism and curatorial projects include The Rotterdam Dialogues at Witte de With, 5th Asian Museum Curators Conference, the Para/Site curatorial programme, The Synapse Curators Network at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt/Berlin, Times Museum in Guangzhou, China, Institutions for the Future (Shanghai), The Asian Art Space Network (AASN) and Art Sonje in Korea, and the co-curation of The Mekong platform for Sixth Asia Pacific Triennial (APT6) at the Queensland Art Gallery/GoMA in 2009.

Lectures, panels and presentations at universitities include the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, The School of the Art Institute Chicago, Northern Illinois University, Sotheby’s Institute of Art in Singapore, National University Singapore (NUS), Bangkok University and Silapakorn University in Bangkok.
