Jorn Ebner

1966 in Bremerhaven, Germany, lives in Berlin, Germany. Studies: Central Saint Martins College of Art, London [1995-98]; Universität Hamburg [1990-95]; AHRC Research Fellowship at Fine Art, University of Newcastle upon Tyne [2002-05]. Formerly based in Great Britain [London and Newcastle upon Tyne 1996-2009], he now lives in Germany [Berlin and Hamburg]. Ebner shows his internet works, electronic drawings and sound pieces in solo and group exhibitions, and at international festivals. In 2000 he started to work with digital media and internet technologies.

He received a Jury Recommendation for „(the tender indifference)“ from the Japan Media Arts Festival [2009]; Ars Electronica Festival commissioned Ebner to create visualisations for John Cage and Elliott Carter concerts [2006, 2008]; the City of Munich awarded him the Media Forum Munich art prize for „Lee Marvin Toolbox“ [2001]. From 2008 onwards, his digital works were developing towards sound art, including the public sound art project (The Beatles) in Hamburg funded by the City of Hamburg, cultural department [2011]. In 2014, an exhibition at the Muséo de arte contemporanéo de Bogotá labeled Ebner a ‚pioneer of digital art’. In 2015 he received an appreciation award for his analogue drawings by the International Lucas-Cranach-Prize 2015.
