Julia Christensen is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores systems of technology, consumerism, landscape, and history. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at venues such as Eyebeam (NY, NY), Walker Art Center (Minneapolis, MN), Ronald Feldman Fine Arts Gallery (NY, NY), Lincoln Center (NY, NY), and 21C Museum (Louisville, KY). Her work has been exhibited internationally in Croatia, France, Greece, Serbia, and beyond. Christensen has received a MacDowell Fellowship (2015), Creative Capital grant (Emerging Fields, 2013), Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award (2015), New York State Council on the Arts SOS grant (2007), and a Turbulence commission (2008). Julia is the author of Big Box Reuse, published by the MIT Press in 2008. Big Box Reuse reached critical acclaim, with reviews and features in publications such as the New York Times, New York Magazine, Bookforum, New York Review of Books, and The Washington Post. She has been awarded artist residencies at the MacDowell Colony, Wexner Center for the Arts, and the Experimental Television Center. Ms. Christensen is Associate Professor of Integrated Media in the Studio Art Department at Oberlin College.
