Alejandro Duque
Alejandro Duque is a dual Columbian-Swiss citizen and graduate from Medellin School of Fine Arts, Colombia. Duque is presently a PhD candidate at the European Graduate School in Switzerland where he is working on a thesis titled Gifted Malice: Kinship Through the Wires and the Waves. Duque’s research focuses on HAM radio, streaming media and satellite listening/spotting, and employs GNU/Linux OS and IRC as a fundamental component of its ethos. Duque is further interested in exploring possibilities for collaboration and participation within Southern Hemispheric networks seeking to agitate and problematise the notion of the North-South divide. His artistic production embraces process-based methodologies within affective networks that integrate old and new technologies to explore both experimental and utilitarian aesthetic experience. As a member of Dorkbot-Medellin Duque founded the non-localised hacklab [k.0_lab], is founder of labSurlab.org and is also an active member of Bricolabs. Duque has also led workshops titled Into the Electromagnetic Spectrum, Invisible Landscapes and TRUeQUE at the Locus Sonus Laboratory in Southern France.
